The Centre Eugène Marquis is a Private Health Establishment with Collective Interests
(Etablissement de Santé Privé d’Intérêt Collectif) (ESPIC). With its vocation as a university hospital it is a non-profit-making establishment and is a participant in the public health
hospital service.
It is a member of the Fédération Française des Centres de Lutte Contre le
Cancer (UNICANCER) (French Federation of Center for the Fight against Cancer).
The Centre Eugène Marquis has threes
remits : care, research and teaching.
The Centre Eugène Marquis is entirely dedicated to a plan of action against cancer.
It underpins its remits with the ongoing desire to increase the quality of the plan of action and to improve access to care. Constituting, at one and the same time, a regional and national network,les the Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer (CLCC) of which the Centre Eugène Marquis is a part, are responsible for a model plan of action both global and multidisciplinary
for persons who are suffering from cancer.
The doctors are salaried and do not work on a fee basis.
The Centre Eugène Marquis is part of the Institut Régional de Cancérologie (Regional
Institute for Cancer Research) in Rennes, created in 2000 with CHU of Rennes and the
clinique la Sagesse (the 'Wisdom Clinic'). This "Groupement de Coopération Sanitaire" (health cooperation group) (GCS) regroups all the player in public cancer research in
Rennes (doctors, students, teachers and researchers) and its remit is to move fundamental
research closer to clinical research with a view to proving benefits for patients and to take
advantage of recent advances.

A recognized public utility foundation, the Centre Eugène Marquis founded in 1923, is one of the 20 Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer (Centres in the Fight against Cancer) (CLCC) set up by the Ordinance of 1945 and since then regrouped under the umbrella of the Fédération Française des Centres de Lutte contre le Cancer (French Federation of Centres for the Fight against Cancer). The Centre is entitled to receive donations and legacies.
