Research unit EA 4712, led by Professor Vérin at the University of Rennes I, is conducting research into emotional, behavioural and cognitive disorders in patients being treated with deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s or psychiatric illness (depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc.).
The team are developing neuropsychological and physiological paradigms. They are using metabolic PET scans to study the cortical and subcortical circuits involved in these neuropsychological processes. They are also studying predictive factors for surgery to help clinicians choose the best target for stimulation.
The team, made up of research clinicians, is developing methodological, clinical research based on the study of patients treated with deep brain stimulation.
