The Rennes Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) [Centre de Lutte Contre le Cancer], a recognised public benefit foundation, was established in February 1923 by Professor Eugène Marquis, who was a surgeon at the time. He ran the Centre for 25 years.
The Eugène Marquis Centre is one of 18 CCCs that exist in France. The CCCs were created by General de Gaulle on 1 October 1945. They are private, not-for-profit healthcare establishments that act as university teaching hospitals.
